Inside Team Takeover: A Grassroots Journey - Week 4 Recap
This week’s session was held at Bishop McNamara High School, and things are really starting to heat up. The focus was on TTO’s read and react offense, pass and cut drills, and the 5-out motion offense. The players were being held to a higher standard, especially when it came to their reaction times. There’s a lot of pressure to make the right move as the defense changes, and some players faced a bit of a learning curve. But credit to them, they were grinding and working hard to get it right.
Coach Ron led the charge this week, and his approach was no-nonsense. He kept the boys locked in with strict discipline and an intense focus on the fundamentals. The emphasis on the pass and cut drill and read and react offense was all about building awareness—reading the defense and moving without the ball. It’s the kind of system that forces players to act, not just think. The 5-out motion offense was another key area of focus, helping the players learn to space the floor and create opportunities, especially when they’re up against tough defenders.
All in all, this week was about accountability and growth. They’re being challenged to push beyond the individual mindset and really grasp the importance of playing as a unit. And week by week, they’re getting better. Here are some candid moments from the session!
